The Gospel of Khorkina
posted by Tyler Duckworth on Wednesday, August 15, 2007
Khorkina won her first senior international medals at the 1994 World Championships in Brisbane: a silver medal on vault for a Yurchenko half-on, piked Curevo-off; and a silver on uneven bars (her routine included a Markelov release, which is now named the Khorkina).
She was even more successful at the European Championships later that year. Here, she tied for silver in the all-around with teammate Dina Kotchetkova and won bars outright. Khorkina also competed at the Goodwill Games and Team World Championships that year. Her first All-Around win came at the 1995 European Cup, where she also won medals on vault, uneven bars and in the floor exercise. She was expected to be a top contender for All-Around gold at the World Championships later that year. She omitted a triple twist in the floor exercise and scored low, but solid performances on beam and vault and a stellar routine on the unevens helped her to a silver medal behind gold medallist Lilia Podkopayeva. In the bars final, Khorkina took her first world gold, the first of many, and beat Mo Huilan in the process, who at that meet, debuted the incredibly difficult "Mo" salto...

So, its just another Friday night for me, surfin' the net, checking my email, watching TV, and I came across the gayest thing I've ever seen in my life. And, admittedly, that says a lot coming from me. Besides that, recently, the entire concept of "GINGERS" has come about.
First, I heard about it on my favorite podcast, Fox in the City. Then, on South Park. And yet again, on Current TV. It seemed that these so-called "outcasts" had finally found an activist voice in the media.
Well, on the current tv pod featuring the issue of prejudice against gingers came up. While the producers were interviewing one of the 'Gingers' a passer by on a moped yells, "Oye, GINGERNUTS!"
This video link has nothing to do with Gingers or gingernuts, but rather Geingers, a release move commonly completed in elite gymnastics. However, the guy who made this video, should be, on some level, exposed to the same ridicule as those poor gingernuts. They don't deserve it at all. Colt on the other hand...
Remember, to view the video, simplly click on the title of the blog and it'll take you right there. Incredible really.

In celebration of its 25th year in publication, USA Today has been making top 25 lists. This week is counting down the top 25 most memorable moments from the Olympics. I'm assuming this week's countdown is because Beijing is now ONE YEAR AWAY...
What's nice is that gymnastics claimed the #1 and #3 spots. What's not nice is what those moments are. Not surprising though, considering I think both of them have done reporting for USA Today in the past.
And before you freak out because so many other more memorable gym moments aren't listed, remember that this is ONLY from the past 25 years. Lots of readers were wigging out because the Miracle on Ice from 80 or the Munich terrorists aren't on there. Then they were reminded that they don't make the cut because they were longer than 25 years ago.

Quickly, I absolutely MUST commend myself for finally achieving a varied degree of digital success. That is to say, I surprised myself. Looking at my blog, I noticed that the title for my last blog was underlined, whereas the title for the previous one, was not. Hmmmm, scratching my head, I was confused, so I clicked on the title of the last blog entry only to be taken...
To a whole new DIMENSION!
Yes, it took me to YOUTUBE.COM, and a video of the very girl I was talking about. I had intended to embed the video, but didn't realize I could do it so easily and comfortably. I love technology.

Sadly, the amount of follow through, in terms of the names of my blogs and a relevant body is little to nothing at this point. However, usually, I'll get it together, as is the case with today. That being said, my initial point in posting was to BallyHoo the news that Triple-Gold medalist from Athens, Catalina Ponor, has decided to return to compeitition. With a glimmer in her eye, Catalina bounced up on that beam and showed her new routine for the quad. Expect to see her with the rest of the ROMBOTS in Stuttgart, for the world championships in Sept.
The Vampiress herself looks good. Great combos, variety of skills, impeccable execution, gotta love some Porno. Though, it'll be interesting to get Scata, Nastia, Shawn, Krasnyanskaya in the same beam final. A gymgasmic dream for sure. So, check out Scata's comeback and get ready, Worlds 07 are on their way!
